COOKIES
CLASSIC YACHT TV’S COOKIE POLICY
This page describes the CLASSIC YACHT TV cookie policy, which applies to this website. If you do not accept this Cookie Policy please do not use this site. Please read this carefully.
This page describes our cookie policy for classicyacht.tv (the Website). If you do not accept this Cookie Policy please do not use this site.
WHAT ARE COOKIES AND HOW IS THIS RELEVANT TO CYTV?
Most brands and companies have a comprehensive web presence these days and in order for those companies to operate effectively they must know how people interact with their websites. CLASSIC YACHT TV was founded to take you on board classic yachts via video, we achieve this and we want to give you more, it is helpful for us to know what our users are most interested in.
Just like the majority of websites we use cookies – small text files on users’ computers to recognise and measure visits or to authorise other designated websites like GOOGLE ANALYTICS to recognise these users for a particular purpose.
For CYTV cookies are most helpful in aiding the development of content programmes and funding productions by allowing us to see what content is viable / interesting / most engaged with. This in turn, allows us to develop advertising revenue which allows us to pay for our productions.
Data collected is mostly, though not exclusively, anonymous, though some of it is designed to detect browsing patterns and approximate geographical location to improve user experience.
Some websites may also contain images called ‘web beacons’ (also known as ‘clear gifs’). Web beacons only collect limited information, including a cookie number, a timestamp, and a record of the page on which they are placed. Websites may also carry web beacons placed by third party advertisers. These beacons do not carry any personally identifiable information and are only used to track the effectiveness of a particular campaign (for example by counting the number of visitors).
Information collected by cookies and web beacons is not personally identifiable.
USE OF COOKIES BY CYTV
Mostly, the collection and processing of cookie data and in fact any data owned and stored by CLASSIC YACHT TV is undertaken to measure our performance, just like any other business.
We are in fact not selling cars to millions of users, but merely producing and distributing short videos of yachts for you to enjoy, then communicating these pieces of work to an opted-in and organic audience, further to that we have no such use to sell your data nor share it explicitly.
This cookie data is mostly anonymous and allows for calculation of visitors, duration of time spent on the site, returning visits, new audiences etc.
Without cookies CLASSIC YACHT TV would not be able to bring you the videos it currently does. CYTV would not be able to determine a key audience; how many people watch our videos, therefore it wouldn’t be a viable platform to talk about in the marine industry, we would not be able to ensure we are paid correctly by advertisers.
CYTV is committed to making great productions that you enjoy and, in order to do that we appreciate your support using – our website and social platforms – opt-ing in with the use of cookies.
WHAT TYPE OF COOKIES ARE THERE AND WHICH ONES DO WE USE?
There are two types of cookie which we use on our website:
Persistent cookies remain on a user’s device for a set period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time that the user visits the website that created that particular cookie.
Session cookies are temporary. They allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.
Four functions of cookies; ‘Strictly necessary’ cookies; ‘Performance’ cookies; ‘Functionality’ cookies – CLASSIC YACHT TV does not currently use Functionality cookies; ‘Targeting’ or ‘Advertising’ cookies.
Performance cookies collect anonymous data on: How visitors use our website, they don’t contain any personally identifiable information, and help us to improve your user experience on our website. Some examples of how we use performance cookies and why collecting that data is helpful to us include the following:
- Data detailing visits to our website; how many people, individual visits, duration spent on site, the number of pages a visitor has viewed and where they are viewing them from.
Performance information helps CYTV to: How you’ve used the site, whether you’ve visited before, what you viewed, measure the engagement you had with that video or page, how you found us. This data helps us improve what we produce for you.
HOW DO I CONTROL COOKIES?
If you deem cookies as piracy (!) then please note that by disabling them the whole website is likely to become a less enjoyable experience; preferences will be lost, some websites do not work as well.
